Tour of the National Diet

Address: 1-7, Nagatacho
Tel: 3581-3111 (Upper House) and 3581-5111 (Lower House)
The Upper House is open to the public Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (reception open until 4:00 p.m.) when the General Assembly is not in session, except for holidays and during the New Year holiday period. When the General Assembly meets, hours are from 8:00 a.m. to one hour prior to opening of the Assembly.
Special tours of the General Assembly Hall are open to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the first and third Sunday of the month when the Diet is in adjournment (however, it is closed if the first or third Sunday is within a week of the convening of the Diet). Observation of the General Assembly in session is open to the public, however, usually you need to be referred by a Diet member. If you have no reference, you can go to the reception window to get an admission ticket which will be distributed 30 minutes prior to the Assembly convening.
The procedures for the Lower House are the same as for the Upper House, except you must be referred by a Diet member.
