East Imperial Garden

Situated in the eastern part of the Imperial Palace grounds, this
park, opened to the public as an affiliated park of the Imperial
Palace in 1968, houses the castle tower and the outer defensive
positions of the former Edo Castle. You can still see the stone
foundation of the castle tower and the Fujimi-Yagura, the remaining
sections of the former Edo Castle. You can also see flowers year-round.
Admission: Free. There are three entrance gates, Kita-Hanebashimon,
Hirakawamon and Otemon.
Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (entrance until 3:30 p.m.) from November
1 to the end of February, and 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (entrance until
4:00 p.m.) from March 1 to the end of October
Closed: Mondays (Tuesday if Monday is a holiday), Fridays, over
the New Year holiday period, the Emperor’s Birthday and days
when events, etc. are conducted
Kitanomaru Park

Situated on the former site for Edo Castle’s Kitanomaru (northern
section), this is a large park with ample greenery. It houses Tokyo’s
central sports and cultural facilities, including the Nippon Budokan
for large-scale events and concerts, and the Tokyo National Museum
of Modern Art.
Chidorigafuchi Boat Arena and Chidorigafuchi Moat Path
 Location: 2, Sanbancho

The Chidorigafuchi area is a very popular spot for strolling
throughout the year, particularly during the time when the cherry
blossoms bloom. You can also enjoy boating in the moat.
Period for Boating: March 1 through December 15
Boat Fee: ¥500 for 30 minutes or ¥1,000 for 1 hour (¥800
for 30 minutes or ¥1,600 for 1 hour during the cherry blossom
season). The boats can carry 3 persons each.
Hours: 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (minor changes depending on the
season)

National Diet Building Park

Facing the National Diet Building, the park is divided by a
street. The northern part is designed as a Western-style park
with the Parliamentary Museum, Clock Tower and Japan Water Level
Bench Mark Repository, while the southern part is a Japanese-style
garden with 300 American dogwoods planted as the flower of friendship
between Japan and the United States of America.

Hibiya Park

This is Japan’s first Western-style park. Located near
Tokyo’s shopping and office districts, it attracts many
visitors on weekdays as well as weekends. In addition to flowers
that bloom in all seasons, the park accommodates a variety of
facilities including open-air concert halls, the Hibiya Public
Hall, tennis courts and restaurants.
Imperial Palace Outer Garden

Located in front of the Nijubashi Bridge, this park is popular as
a part of the Around-the-Imperial-Palace jogging course as well
as a tourist site in Tokyo. Commonly known as the Imperial Palace
Square, 2,800 Japanese black pine trees are planted here. |
